We congratulate Dr. Stephanie Eifert on the publication of her dissertation entitled: “»Kritische« Infrastrukturen und »Knoten« in »Netzen« als Grundlage einer Infrastruktur-Geschichte der Vormoderne – Betrachtungen zu Frankfurt am Main und Mainz im Spätmittelalter”. The research shows that fluvial transport and traffic facilities were characterised by accessibility, safety and attractiveness for users. Furthermore, the analysis aims at showing the systemic character of paths, networks and embedded infrastructures in the late Middle Ages.
